Been just starting out lately with a blank canvas and no idea of where I am going and just letting the painting develop on its own. Not sure if the end product turns out well but it is enjoyable to get in front of a blank slate and just paint for fun , comments welcome
I like this painting. It looks stark and cold and your mountain almost looks like a crater. Your cabin looks like a warm safe haven in the cold dark night. Well done.

I think what you describe here is the true meaning of creativity. It's perfectly alright to copy from a photograph or from somebody else's work either exactly or to use it as a guide and put your own spin on it, but creating your own piece from scratch as you go along from nothing but your own thoughts, is truly unique and as individual as you are. I've tried it several times and I abandoned all of them except one, and the one I finished I don't like. I don't lack imagination, it's more that I lack the painting skills. You did good, well done.
